General Legal Protection’s business and assets are now owned by AmTrust subsidiary Composite Legal Expenses, in a strategic move that positions the latter as a leading provider of legal expenses insurance and assistance products in the UK.
The acquired firm, based in York, will keep its own brand and continue operating under the leadership of branch manager André Scruton. The existing team and its new owner will aim to ensure that the transition is seamless for policyholders, agents, and brokers, according to a release.
“Moving our business to Composite provides us with an ideal platform to develop our business with the support and assistance that being part of a bigger organisation provides,” said Scruton. “I’m very excited about our future.”
As for Composite, the company said the purchase underlines its continued commitment to growth.
“We are delighted to welcome André and his team to Composite,” commented director Matthew Williams. “Operating out of our offices in Cardiff and York, we are now well positioned to continue the sustained growth that Composite has enjoyed since it was acquired by AmTrust in 2015.”
Composite’s legal expenses portfolio includes commercial after the event (ATE) and personal injury ATE, as well as a comprehensive range of prepaid before the event (BTE) products for personal and commercial customers. Meanwhile its insurance business activities also include support services and risk management offerings.
