The record of Samuel Archibald, author and professor at theUniversity of Quebec in Montreal, who suffers from depression and whose case was the subject of an open letter and a column published in The daily newspaper la Presse +, will be re-evaluated by Desjardins Insurance, has announced the insurer by way of a press release.

In his open letter, Mr. Archibald, who is on sick leave since the fall, said she be denied her disability benefits after that Desjardins has had wind of certain professional activities that would be held during his / her leave.

Refusal rate below 5 %

«We sympathize with his situation, and, as this folder has never been the object of a re-evaluation, we have quickly set in motion a process of revision. We will maintain communications with Mr. Archibald, with his employer, for whom we administer the group insurance plan, » says Desjardins.

«Almost half of our cases of group insurance are disability cases and the refusal rate for cases of mental health falls under the 5% bar. It is important to note that each case is assessed on a case-by-case basis with the insured, experts, including treating physicians and the employer, » adds Desjardins.
