The study of HEC Montreal for the account of the Chaire de recherche Industrielle Alliance on the economic issues of demographic change has been carried out using the model COMPASS.
It is used to project, by age group, the risk of a person to end his life in an institution, even as the number of years in which care will be required.
The study aimed in particular to measure the interest of the population for health insurance products that are more targeted. «Product knowledge is very limited, just as the knowledge of the risks,» says its author, professor Pierre-Carl Michaud.
«On average, it provides about the risks that we know through actuarial calculations, but among different categories of respondents, there is really very large changes,» he says.
